Every designer has a side hustle, right?
There was a time when I was feeling uninspired and burnt out—as often happens to folks who's career relies on creative output—and I asked myself "When did I feel most inspired?"
The answer? Being a teenager and making things in my bedroom without a thought that someone else would see them.
Chasing that feeling, I began teaching myself leatherwork in my spare time. I've always admired Ralph Lauren, cowgirls, and the American west and the leather items I made for myself flowed from those interests. As I kept learning and honing my skill, friends started asking for wallets and bags, and thus Showpony Brand was born.
Now it's a moniker I work under not just for leather goods, but all sorts of handmade persuits I get into offline.
