Kathryn Proulx is a multidisciplinary designer living in Fairfield, Connecticut. Currently my time is split between living and working in Connecticut and finishing my thesis work in Communication Design at Parsons School of Design in Manhattan.
Prior to now, I have been the design assistant at W Magazine, an award-winning fashion magazine published by Conde Nast, and the in-house designer and project manager for Art-Space, New Haven's premier contemporary art gallery.
Faux-beau.com is my avenue to share what I'm working on now, what inspires me, and to share my experience and advice to students who are interested in attending Parsons or art school in general.

PSA #1

August 2nd, 2008 · 2 Comments

Sorry about the lack of updates this week, I’ve been swamped at my internship helping people register, edit images, fix development problems, handling damage control, responding to emails, listening to and returning voicemails from artists regarding their registration to City Wide Open Studios. A major deadline is approaching this weekend so the gallery is a-buzz with artists making sure they are all set and ready to be viewed by this year’s jurors.

Not only have I been busy with helping make sure that everything at ArtSpace is falling into place, but I’ve also been working hard on making sure that my life is falling into place. Between finding a paying job in Fairfield, getting ready to move in with my boyfriend, finding the perfect internship for the fall, and trying to get in touch with my counselor to work on my school schedule; I haven’t had a chance to slow down!

With that being said, I promise to be back in the swing of things by Monday but in the meantime here are a few things to tide you over:

  • Lurk the work of this texas-based female illustrator, Leesa Leva with watercolor skills to be envious of.
  • Right Click + Save Image As: This is one of my favorite editorials so far this year.
  • Get into or catch up on episodes you’ve missed of Gossip Girl and tide yourself over until the season premiere September 1st.
  • Check out some of the work of Alphonse Mucha here and here… then join me in the ardous quest of growing out your hair.
  • Subscribe to this blog so you won’t miss out on all the hotness coming back next week!
