Parsons Registration: Enough to Give me an Ulcer

April 11th, 2008 · No Comments

Parsons registration always always always gives me the worst anxiety. Like a 10 pound golfball sitting in my stomach, can’t sleep past 6:30am, racing mind kind of anxiety. My entire grade registers online all at one time, so you know the servers are on overload trying to handle us all. Also if you don’t refresh the page right at 7:59:59 you’re likely gonna get shut out of most of your classes. All of the classes I’m registering for have less than 10 spots left, so I’m really buggin. Lucky for me, every person I’ve ever talked to at Parsons is online right now to console me.

People have crazy theories of how to get the classes you want, and techniques to register.  My friend Jill who lives in a fancy schmancy high rise in Herald Square gets crap internet service in her studio so she sits in the laundry room of her building where she can steal someone’s lightning fast internet service.  I’m plugged right into my internet using the ethernet cord, something I haven’t done since about 2004… and at the time I was probably on a PC.  My friend Dylan, residing in Bushwick, Brooklyn never had internet until yesterday, when he paid his neighbors half of their internet bill just to use their wireless so he can register today.  Today I’m also going to be putting in my CRN numbers in order of which classes I have the least chance of getting into; hoping it will get me that ~edge~… we’ll see.  7:55, time to start hovering over command+R!
