This version of Inspiration Folder is spurred by my future move to Fairfield, CT. Moving in with Chino (and his roommate, Geoff)! His room is tiny —New York apartment-sized even, so (one of) my perk(s) is that I can claim their front room as my own art studio/creative space/closet. Psyched! I’ve never had my own space to do my work, I usually just work on things in my bed which is totally not conducive to finishing anything (way too cozy.) I’m going for a somewhat girly theme, something like the girls I draw would like to work in.
Studio Essentials:
- Wooden Easel (plan to buy a super cheap one from a local discount store)
- Bookshelves. I have a couple, but I really want this light pink bookcase)
- Clipline
- Cute Wooden Chair (planning on rescuing one in my garage and painting it light pink to match the bookcase)
- Oversized Cork Board (Unfortunately at an oversized price. Bummer!)
- A nice rug, preferably white, cream, or grey
- Drawers that my work can store away and lay flat in (like this!)
- Some sort of organization, as my studio will be in a room that everyone has to walk through to get to the rest of the apartment. This is the part I’m bad at.
As usual, the images are uploaded full-size on the flickr set. You can find all of the images there except for the wooden easel, the studio with the pink chair, and the studio with the clipline… I don’t feel right uploading those as I already found them by searching flickr.

I never comment on people’s blogs but after finding this from Jazzi’s site I just have to say that if you want a super big corkboard but don’t want to pay a huge price then find youself a home depot (or equivelent building store) and buy a large ceiling tile (like the floating ceiling ones), say 2×4, and then buy cork (it usually comes on a roll and is like 4 feet wide and maybe 1/4 inch thick). Buy the sheet t fit over the tile and then just use rubber cement or such to glue one to the other. Works a charm and it is way cheaper!!! Anyways, just an idea.

I just got my own little working place too and just to give you a little heads up on the experience – creation has been good because work space is great.
believe me on that
