Kathryn Proulx is a multidisciplinary designer living in Fairfield, Connecticut. Currently my time is split between living and working in Connecticut and finishing my thesis work in Communication Design at Parsons School of Design in Manhattan.
Prior to now, I have been the design assistant at W Magazine, an award-winning fashion magazine published by Conde Nast, and the in-house designer and project manager for Art-Space, New Haven's premier contemporary art gallery.
Faux-beau.com is my avenue to share what I'm working on now, what inspires me, and to share my experience and advice to students who are interested in attending Parsons or art school in general.

About the new logo.

April 15th, 2008 · 2 Comments

Maybe you noticed, maybe you didn’t; but faux beau has a new logo.  If you haven’t seen it yet:

logo

  • The “FB” is based off of the typeface from Herbert Matter’s logo for the New Haven Railroad.
  • Added the western detailing on the verticals to make it more modern, and give it a more woodblock type vibe.
  • My own handwriting/artist name is in the banner. (Fun fact: my real middle name isn’t Scott)
  • The anchor and compass rose; because I love anything nautical, I grew up on the water, and have a tattoo on my foot of an anchor anyway; so why not?
  • Art nouveau, filigree-style details because art nouveau concepts inspire a lot of my illustrations.

A big thanks to my friend Dylan Tav for inspiration and suggestions for the logo.  Safe to say he “gets” me?
