Kathryn Proulx is a multidisciplinary designer living in Fairfield, Connecticut. Currently my time is split between living and working in Connecticut and finishing my thesis work in Communication Design at Parsons School of Design in Manhattan.
Prior to now, I have been the design assistant at W Magazine, an award-winning fashion magazine published by Conde Nast, and the in-house designer and project manager for Art-Space, New Haven's premier contemporary art gallery.
Faux-beau.com is my avenue to share what I'm working on now, what inspires me, and to share my experience and advice to students who are interested in attending Parsons or art school in general.

2008 Wrap Up

December 31st, 2008 · 2 Comments

As 2008 comes to a close, here’s a look back and summarization of each month of 2008 in one or two sentences:

January: I finally moved out of my bad living situation in Brooklyn and decided to try commuting for a semester. My best friend and I saw P. Diddy sing “More Money More Problems” live, without Mase.

February: I got tattooed for the first time.

March: Loving life and Connecticut, and I started blogging! I also designed the CTHC 2008 comp packaging/teeshirt logo.

April: Spring semester is winding down and as I finally start to love school. Me and most of my friends see someone get tazed at a Girl Talk show in New Haven.

May: I started a summer internship at ArtSpace in New Haven, CT. I spent my time here designing a 400-page book and promotional materials for City-Wide Open Studios, and gallery sitting/taking pictures of myself when I got bored.

June: Landed a Fall-semester internship at W magazine! I quit my waitressing job and haven’t been employed since.

July: I went tubing down the Farmington River, jumped off ropeswings into resevoirs, swam in 85 degree pools everyday, drank slurpees, and jumped off cliffs. Outdoor summer ‘08 officially tops roadtrip summer ‘04.

August: I decide to move in with Jazzi and give New York another try.

September: Started my internship at W, did this info graphic.

October: Landed my first art show. Turned 20.

November: Sold my first piece of work on etsy to Priscilla De Lima.

December: 3 pages I designed were published in the December ‘08 issue of W magazine (with Blake Lively on the cover) I’ve been meaning to post scans! I also re-designed the blog layout and finished my best semester at Parsons to-date.
